If you follow the Viva New Vegas guide through installing the baseline stability and performance mods, I would very strongly expect the game to function properly. I agree with the last part as well - it's probably a quirk with your system and configuration. NVSE bypasses the launcher if you run the loader, but that's not necessary anymore with the latest 4gb patch - it autoloads xNVSE, letting you use the launcher as normal if you so choose. Make a shortcut to your desktop from the nvseloader.exe and launch from this. Run the 4gb patch and direct it to the game folder apply it to the nvseloader.exe. Place the 4gb patch in the game folder also.

I had no such problem with Skyrim, which works fine for me with MO. I have no idea why can't the virtual file system of MO communicate with the game through the launcher then, because that is not supposed to be an obstacle. it has been working for practically everyone with the 4GB + MO.
